Nexon, one of the top online game publisher in US, announced on 13, Nov. that it has secured the publishing right for Dragon Nest, an online action RPG developed by Eyedentity Games Inc, in Korea.
Dragon Nest is the first game developed by Eyedentity Games Inc., a new game development studio in Korea, and delivers an action-filled massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) experience with the high level of graphics and action sequences previously found only in console games.
Players will be thrilled to engage with Dragon Nest¡¯s unique ¡°Ultimate Combo Play,¡± which allows players the ability to re-engage monsters by attacking with background objects, such as walls or rocks. This is one of several unique features in Dragon Nest, which combines sophisticated character movement, exceptional monster artificial intelligence, and precise interaction between the backgrounds and objects within the game. A player with short-range attack skills can team up with another player who possesses long-range skills to utilize various attack strategies through the Ultimate Combo Play.
In order to maximize a player¡¯s ability to move in battle, Dragon Nest developed an innovative control system which merges the use of the keyboard (W, A, S, D buttons) and the mouse and provides users with a perspective unlike other games. This combination gives players the ability to quickly change viewpoints and more dynamic character movements then seen in other existing action-based games. Dragon Nest heightens the realism of in-game actions by positioning the player¡¯s character to the left of the screen. This slight alteration to the typical third-person view allows the players to not only see the avatar¡¯s movement on the screen but also the movements of the opposition in a bird¡¯s eye view.
Dragon Nest has also created a ¡±Town¡± which is on top of the dungeons in order to allow players to build game communities more easily. This has been seen as a difficulty and disadvantage in playing other multiplayer games. The ¡°Town¡± inside Dragon Nest is a virtual three-dimensional space and not just a waiting room or lobby with a two-dimensional user interface as found in other MMORPGs. The Town contains stores and NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) for enchantments and quests. Players can also engage in various social activities including making friends and trading items in the ¡°Town.¡±
Nexon is expected to initiate the closed beta test of Dragon Nest in early 2009.
